Was mich zum Thema Finnland bringt...

Ok, if I understood even MOST of the mamablog article, we really seem to live in two totally different worlds regarding equality and working mothers. Wow, am I happy now that I live in Finland where every child is guaranteed a place in kindergarten (and although those places can be expensive they are not expensive enough to "cancel out" anyone's salary!).
But there are two things that really bother me in that post. One, it really shouldn't be just about the money. I mean, in reality it obviously is a lot about it, meaning that in Finland a lot of women who'd like to stay at home can't afford it. But if the cost to the family is the same whether the woman works or not (difficult for me to imagine) it should not automatically mean that she stays at home. If she likes to work, then let her work! The other thing that REALLY bothers me about that post is that it is the woman whose work is just an "expensive hobby". What?! I mean don't you even discuss the father staying at home here? Seriously, I haven't noticed that at all in media or anything here. It's like no one even thinks about it! Why is it still about whether the mother should/can work or stay at home, why is it not (as it should be) whether another one of the parents does that?
I'm tempted to say something like "well, it's Switzerland, think of when they gave women the right to vote" but I'm afraid I'll sound too much like a cultural imperialist or something.
