Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass sowas in Finnland passiert. Ja, mir ist auch klar, dass es auch (grade) in Finnland sozial benachteiligte und dumme menschen gibt. Trotzdem hat mich diese Nachricht wirklich geschockt. Ein Amoklauf in einer Schule ist an sich ja schon ganz furchtbar, aber für mich an einer kleinen Schule in einem beschaulichen finnischen Örtchen gleich doppelt so schlimm.
Bemerkenswert finde ich zwei Sachen, die ich in diesem Artikel gelesen habe:
Zum einen dass Finnland nach den USA und Jemen die höchste Rate an Waffenbesitzern gibt (ca 56% der Bevölkerung) und zum anderen, dass mit keinem Wort irgendwelche ComputerBallerSpiele erwähnt werden. Im Gegenteil wird der Junge sogar als sehr intelligent mit überdurchschnittlichen schulischen Leistungen beschrieben.
Wie kann sowas nur passieren?

What can I say? We're all shocked. Finland does have a lot of guns since especially in the countryside most of the men have hunting as a hobby. This has been the case for ages but never before has something like this happened. So I wouldn't blame this on guns (and I know you don't, either, but I'm pretty sure that's what a lot of people will think - especially those not familiar with the moose hunting culture etc.). Although actually there have occasionally been cases where people have broken into farm houses and stolen the hunting weapons and I've been wondering if some day there'll be some terrible thing done with those but that hasn't happened yet.
Well, shouldn't have been a suprprise really. If something like this can happen in the US why couldn't it happen in Finland too? Especially since mental health care is not in a very good state in this country at the moment. But people can go mad anywhere. The truth is that you never know when someone'll snap and start a massacre on the bus you're riding or in the supermarket where you're grocery shopping. Events like this remind us of that.
You remember Jonna, Tapani's sister-in-law? Her cousin's daughters go to that school. Luckily they were unharmed. That's how small a country Finland is.
But after seeing all the news yesterday and all the flags today I'm kind of tired of thinking about this so let's change the subject. The photos of Sara are so cute! And congratulations to your father! How are the mittens etc. that Mom sent working?
